As a student in journalism, I need to develop my skills in many fields. Writing a blog is one of them. Since I have never blogged before, this first experience on the web promises to be filled with a lot of surprises.

As a student who grew up surrounded by Google and Facebook, I hoped my basic skills would be sufficient to create a relevant and practical blog. Bad idea. The first blogging assignment showed me the numerous things I still had to learn!  

My working experiences taught me one thing, besides many others: never think you know how to do something right. In the aftermath, I took the habit, during my internships in several French newspapers and radios, to always double check my articles.

Covering the Arab Spring seems really appealing to me. It is the best way to keep in touch with the evolution of the situation over there.

Doing my research, I already became aware of all the things I had missed concerning the Arab Spring. The role  played by women during the revolutions is one of them.

I think my ability to easily talk to people is going to help. I already talked to students from Libya that I did not know before beginning the beat. My enthusiasm for all subjects concerning international politics is also going to ease my work.

However, I feel as if I miss a lot of information about the political evolution that occurred in Libya, Egypt and Tunisia since the beginning of the revolutions. Then, it could be a problem when I interview Libyan students.

Blogging already strengthens my journalist skills. It teaches me a different way of writing. I still have got one issue, though: I am really doubtful about my capacity of dealing with the layout.
